The Claybourn Award of Excellence aims to be one of the toughest and most prestigious on the web. It has no timetable by which it must be awarded because it is so rare and reserved only for the best. It seeks to proliferate our highest ideals in Internet web sites. Quality content and design is a must. This is not an award that you must be a professional to earn; however, I expect to see proficiency in design that would be on par with an intermediate to advanced web designer. The content must seek to further human knowledge and improve mankind.

JC's Blog of the Week is chosen, obviously, weekly. Recipients display excellence in content, thoughtfulness and design. Ingenuity is a big plus. The content and message of the blog is of utmost importance. Only those showing the highest efforts will be recognized.

The Webmaster Excellence Award promotes and recognizes webmasters that are original, well designed and offer full content. The award is for webmasters with a new concept and different approach. Recipients provide positive information and/or valuable resources to the Internet Community.

Being named a Claybourn Web site of Distinction is an award bestowed upon those sites that are a cut above the rest. The award is given out at random intervals to those sites meeting the proper criteria and outperforming its competitors.

General Award Requirements
- Submit your site for consideration by emailing Josh at jclaybou@indiana.edu
- Sites that are password protected and not accessible to the general public are not eligible.
- Sites that require a fee are eligible if they offer a free trial period. I will review the site via this trial period. Sites requiring registration are permitted.
- There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted by any entrant.
- While non-English speaking Web sites are not explicitly forbidden, sites must be accessible to predominantly English speaking readers.
- Sites that contain pornographic material, propagate "hate" messages, make defamatory statements, or which are otherwise extraordinarily offensive are not eligible.

Criteria for Selection
- The Internet was created to share information; and comprehensive, useful content is the heartbeat of an excellent web site.
- The content should be original, concise, accurate, well written, and up-to-date. If you're not using original content, give credit to the original author.
- Websites that present a new idea or concept and sites that offer a unique or useful service have the best chance of winning awards. Try to be original, or creative. Some of the best ideas are simply a new twist on an old idea.
- All content must be meaningful to and useful for the intended audience.
- You must have a clear purpose for your website.
- The design of your website, how you combine the content and graphics, can transform good content into a great site. A great site will have a layout that is pleasing to the eye, and all the pages will have a consistent look and feel. It will be well organized, logical, and easy to navigate.
- A website should be easy to navigate, and visitors should know where they are in the site at all times.
